Ronald Reagan said “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children what it was once like in the United States where men were free.”
We don’t want to look back and “remember” the days of freedom. We want those days to continue to be the blessed reality that we have today. How are we going to keep it? We have to defend it. That’s what this group is for; engaging other conservative Montanans in intellectual conversations and actions for the good of Montana and the United States. We want the GCYRs to operate as a collection of individuals all fighting and working together for the same goal – the American dream.
How does GCYRs do that exactly? First, we stay connected. This website is designed to keep it’s members informed and up-to-date on local, state and federal politics, provide a place for discussion and links to other resources. We post upcoming meetings and events of interest to the group. We may even once in a while vote online about a issues for the GCYRs. We mostly seek to be a resource rather than an encumbrance in all of our busy lives.
Second, it provides a place for individuals to network. Active citizenship is vital to the life of this state. We can all be active in many different ways and on many different level. GCYRs want this group to be a place where you can find like-minded people who can then make a difference together. How much or how little you are involved is up to you, but can you really afford to be silent on a subject as important as your future?
Last, but not least we want to enjoy friendships and make new ones. We are young and have a desire to a productive life, but we also want to meet new people, laugh and have a good time. Our monthly social gatherings will be a time to catch up and do some business, but also enjoy.
